Proofs Of Prophet

There is absolutely no doubt about the fact that one of the fundamentals of iman(belief system) is to believe in the prophets whom Allah (s.w.t) has sent to us.  The first prophet is Adam and the last and the most praised is Hz. Mohammed (peace be upon him) the prophet of Islam (prophet of all muslims).  It is due onto every human being to believe in the final prophet from Allah.  The people who don’t believe in the above are not considered ‘believers’(mumin).  There are a number of miracles proving the fact that the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) is a true prophet sent by Allah (God).  Moreover, scholars of Islam have written many books regarding this matter; some are called Isbat’ün-nübüvve, şevahid’ün-nübüvve ve delail’ün-nübüvve.  Understanding these miracles proving Mohammed’s (s.a.v) prophethood can not only strengthen the believers’ belief, but also can help open-minded non-muslims become believers(submitters to God).  Some of these logical or scientific miracles are as follows:

Our beloved prophet; despite having no money, no friends and having no support, all by himself, without being disheartened by his relatives isolating him and treating him like an enemy,  continued in the holy path that Allah (s.w.t) set for him in conveying his message.  Even though he was offered everything that one could possibly want and have in this world, provided he gave up his mission of calling people to the way of Allah(God), he still preferred to spend his life in the way of Allah conveying his message, away from the comfort and the luxury of this world, full of hardship and danger.

-     In his childhood, he possessed qualities such as maturity, nobility, high morals and excellent behaviour which one could not expect from a child.  In his youth, people with insight could notice the overwhelming dignity in him.

-     Even before he was a prophet, he had always been against injustice- he was a member of an organisation called ‘Hilf’ul-fudul’ which protected people’s rights who had been exposed to unjust treatment. He always looked after the poor, the orphan and the widows.

-     Despite being in an environment where it was so hard to keep high moral standards, even before he was a prophet, he had maintained his chastity and decency.  Where he showed weakness, Allah(s.w.t) protected him from sinning. He intended to go to a wedding party on a couple of occasions but he fell asleep on the way and could not reach his destination.

-     Even before he was a prophet, he had never lied, never broken his word or commited treachery.  He was so trustworthy and so reliable that even his most ferocious enemies called him ‘the trustworthy’(Mohammed’ul-emin (Mohammad the trustworthy)).

-     He was the master of peace.  He regarded people’s moral values highly and was good at producing practical solutions to problems.  During the restoration of Ka’ba, there had been an arguement about who should put the invaluable stone called ‘Hajar’al Aswad’ back in it’s place.  Then all the tribes in the area decided that the first person who enters the Ka’ba area should decide who should place the Stone back in it’s place.  That person was Mohammed.(peace be upon him) He solved the problem simply by suggesting that they should put the Stone on his cloak and a representative of each tribe should hold one corner each- which then should be lifted together to place the Stone back in its place.  He was excellent at solving problems simply.

-     Everybody knew that he was illiterate.  Even though it was commonly known that he did not have any lessons from anyone, all of a sudden he came up with a book called ‘the Qur’an’ that could challenge even the best poets and authors of all times.

-     All the disbelievers of his time accepted the fact that He was telling the truth but the only objection they could come up with was to say ‘why was the prophethood not given to such and such amongst the rich people but given to an orphan like Mohammed(pbuh)’.

-     Disbelievers were having a tough time trying to find a weakness or a fault in him.  If they had found a fault in his actions or had heard a lie from him, they would have announced this to the whole world immediately.  Never were they able to do that!

-     His most ferocious enemies had one by one submitted to the will of God, accepting Islam and even putting their lives in danger for the sake of protecting him. (Look at how Omer ibn Al Khattab became a muslim)

- He never diverted off his path. He endured all kinds of unending hardship, danger and threats and continued in his path of conveying the message for the sake of serving God’s religion.  His perseverence in his path without caring about the potential life threats he was recieving, especially the mocking type that was crumpling his dignity, personality and his character, without despairing facing insults, were all proofs of his sincerity.

- Throughout his life his character never changed.  As we all know, after the seizure of Makkah, he was fully in control and in charge and he could have had anything he wanted but he always preferred the afterlife to this one.  Even though he was very successful, powerful, victorious, prestigious; his character never faltered and this is the proof of his nobility and his high morals and unshakable truthfulness.  He maintained his modesty even after he had achieved the greatest victories.

- His mission wasn’t local, regional or specific to a nation, but was so universal as to cover all humanity and all ages.  The message he brought, the religion of Islam was the first and the last ever global religion ever brought upon humanity.

- He worshiped his creator until his body was exhausted.  He was so willing and proud to be Allah’s servant.  He always acted for the sake of Allah and he was so detached from his ego.

- In the Quran, he was critisied on a few occasions as he did not behave appropriately in certain situations.  ( Had he written that himself, he would not have criticised himself.)

- There is some information in the Quran about his private life that nobody would like other people to know.

- He treated his followers who were willing to give up his life for him with incredible gentleness,  utter courtesy and total modesty.

- Thorughout his life, he showed stability in his behaviour, he spoke with wisdom, never used a bad word and never mistreated anybody or broke anyone’s heart.

- He was brought up in an area where there were no schools or educational institutions or the word ‘university’ had never been heard before.  He never studied social sciences or politics yet he was the best politician and community man, he never studied pedagogy, yet he was the best teacher, he never studied economy, philosophy or psycology yet he came up with the best principles in these areas and he spoke words of wisdom in every situation.  He produced such precious words that we can understand the value of as technology advances and the words that guarantee happiness not only in this life but also in the hereafter.

- All the other prophets(peace be upon them all) informed their people about the next prophet to arrive but Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) always said ‘he was the last and the final prophet’ and even after 1400 years after his death, his words are proven to be right.

- His name has been mentioned in previous books like the Bible and the Torah and you can even find them in the current copies of those books.  Some of the examples are as follows; ‘For them, I will bring out a prophet like you, from among them and I am going to put my words in his mouth’(Kitab-i Mukaddes, tensiye babı ayet 18)  Jesus(pbuh) says ‘ I am going so that the man of this time (Prophet Mohammed) may arrive’. (Johanna 16:8) Moses(p.b u.h) said in Torah ‘Rab(Allah) will bring out a prophet like me from among your brothers’.  ‘Whatever he says, you will listen to him. All the other prophets since Ismail always informed us about the days he would come.

- He started his mission after the age of forty.  If he was just a philosopher or an ideologist he would not have waited that long to disclose his ideology.  As he was behaving with God’s permission he had to wait until Allah decided he was ready in every aspect to go ahead with conveying the message.

- He had the highest standards of morals.  Attaining high morals depends on good upbringing and indoctrination.  Good high morals grow in the appropriate atmosphere and environment.  Let’s consider our prophet’s living conditions and environment:  Who brought him up and educated him?  He himself answers this question by saying ; ‘ My Rab (Rab in arabic is one of the beautiful names of Allah meaning the best upbringer, educator, teacher ) brought me up and what a fantastic upbringing that is’.

- Researchers who investigate famous people and their lives have concluded as follows; Muhammed (pbuh) is the one and only role model of all times for all humanity.

- His message has valued people in a way that is deserved.  He was the founder and the best defender of true human rights. His final speech is the best human rights manifesto ever written.

- He was under divine protection.  Swords were all around him, legions were sent to get him, death was stalking him when the verse ‘Allah protects you from all’(The Quran-maide 67) was sent down from Allah.  Disbelievers followed him with an unbearable desire to kill him and they were breathing down his neck, they got so close but unable to achieve the task at hand.  When he was escaping with his best friend Abu Bakr -  he comforted him by saying ‘don’t worry, Allah is with us’.  He was never afraid and always had the assurance of Allah’s protection and continued in his path without even blinking.

- He always said ‘Allah protects the Quran’ – the book of his religion.  Allah says in the Quran ‘Surely we sent down this Quran and we are the protector of it’ in verse Hicr 9.  Even after 1400 years later, not even a single letter has been changed in the Quran.

- Nobody with pure intentions has abondoned the religion of Islam after having understood and believed in it’s principals properly.  Despite the muslims’ weak outlook today there are many figures amongst scientists, philisophers, religous scholors from other religions who after having investigated all social systems, ideologies and religions available in the world have chosen Islam. Captain Custeau, R. Garaudy, M Bucaille and Yusuf Islam are only a few names amongst a huge crowd of them.  Today, more than one billion people follow the prophet’s footsteps and the number is increasing by the day.

- All the famous fair scientist, philisophers say excellent things about Prophet Mohammed (p.b u.h) and they can’t find anything to criticise him about.  Heraclius who learnt about the Prophet Mohammed(p.b.u.h) from Abu Sufyan said: ‘ If what you are telling me is the truth, then He is the Prophet.  I knew he would come but I did not think he would come from among you!  If I knew I would be able to reach him, I would love to get to him.  If I was beside him, I would help him wash his feet by pouring water.  His sovereignty will reach as far as these lands upon which I am treading.’  A famous historian Bernard Shaw says ‘How desperately we are in need of the Prophet Mohammed(p.b.u.h) who would solve all the problems of today’s chaotic world with the ease of drinking coffee.

- The religion he brought showed us the way for everything from how to eat to the rules of managing a country well as running a government.

- There are scholars who gained great respect like İmami Gazali, Fahrettin Razi and thousands alike who owe their position to the religion Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) brought and the words he uttered and the principals he taught.

- He was not the only one claiming prophethood.  There had been many prophets before him- he believed in all of them and he asked all of his followers to also believe in them.

Mohammad (pbuh) was the last and final prophet.  The religion of Islam (submission to Allah), the book of this religion, Quran, and the principals drawn from the Quran and the words of the Prophet(hadith) are all a hundred percent true.  Following these principals is for our own benefit.  Enlightenment and success is from God (Allah) Almighty only.
